Given, Mass of a vehicle is m = 1500 kga = 1.7 ms–2 (negative acceleration so value of a is negative), we calculate force using formula,

F = m × a = 1500 × –1.7 =  –2550 N

Hence, the force between the vehicle and a road, when vehicle is to be stopped is –2550 N.
