SERIES CONNECTION 

A series circuit is one in which every component is in a series connection. Therefore, a series circuit has the same current at all points in the circuit. The voltage drops across each component in the circuit sum to the source voltage.

PARALLEL CONNECTION 

A parallel circuit is a closed circuit divided into two or more paths before recombining to complete the circuit. Each load connected in a separate path receives the full circuit voltage and the total circuit is equal to the sum of the individual branch currents.
