Answer / Solution

I have explain basic 3 major differences between speed and velocity. These are

  • Speed is scalar quantity i.e. it has only magnitude. and Velocity is vector quantity i.e. it has both magnitude as well as direction.
  • Speed is the distance travelled by an object in a given interval of time and Velocity is the displacement of an object in a given interval of time.
  • Formula to calculate Speed i.e Speed = distance / time and Formula to calculate Velocity i.e. Velocity = displacement / time.
